Overview
If you have battled psoriasis, eczema, urticaria or stubborn skin issues for years, you know the cycle: flare, cream, relief, flare again. Topical steroids and immunosuppressants control the surface but leave the underlying imbalance intact — which is why the disease returns the moment treatment stops.
Ayurveda does not play that game. It treats skin disorders as a reflection of imbalances in the blood, the gut and the overall metabolic fire (Agni). When those are set right, the skin clears — and stays clear.
The Ayurvedic view
Classical Ayurveda calls chronic skin disease Kushta and places its roots in the blood (Rakta), plasma (Rasa) and muscle tissue (Mamsa), driven by imbalances across all three doshas and — crucially — impaired gut function. True healing therefore requires internal detoxification (Shodhana), blood purification (Raktashuddhi), gut restoration and a nourishing, skin-friendly diet. Topical oils and pastes support the process but are never the whole treatment.

Therapies & medicines we use
Therapeutic purgation — the cornerstone of skin treatment in Ayurveda. Clears deep-seated Pitta and toxins.
Blood-letting (classical or leech therapy where indicated) — removes vitiated blood in localised skin lesions.
Pouring of medicated buttermilk over the forehead — calming and anti-inflammatory for scalp psoriasis.
Medicated herbal pastes applied externally — supportive, not primary.
Personalised decoctions, tablets and Rasayanas from GMP-certified pharmacies.
Individualised Pathya-Apathya guidance — the most underrated half of skin healing.
Expected timeline
Most patients see visible reduction in redness, scaling and itching within 3–4 weeks. Significant clearing typically occurs over 3–6 months of a structured programme. Psoriasis and vitiligo need patience — 6–9 months is realistic — but results are genuinely durable, not cosmetic.
“Eleven years of plaque psoriasis, ten different doctors, countless creams. Six months with Dr. Anil and my skin is the clearest it has been since I was 20. I cried the first time I wore a short-sleeved shirt in a decade.”
