Overview
Inhalers and nasal sprays save lives — but they do not cure. If you are dependent on rescue inhalers, nasal drops or long-term antihistamines just to breathe comfortably, Ayurveda has a different offer: structurally reduce the hyper-reactivity, clear the accumulated Kapha and strengthen the lungs so your body no longer needs emergency support.
Dr. Anil K Ayyappan's respiratory programmes combine classical Nasya (nasal administration of medicated oils), Vamana (therapeutic emesis), personalised internal medicines and breath-training through Pranayama. Most asthma patients significantly reduce — or eliminate — rescue inhaler use within 3–6 months.
The Ayurvedic view
Ayurveda locates respiratory disease in an imbalance of Kapha (mucus, congestion) and Vata (spasm, dryness, breathlessness), triggered by poor digestion, repeated allergen exposure and weak immunity. Classical treatment clears the Kapha that obstructs the channels, pacifies the Vata that causes spasm, and rebuilds lung tissue through Rasayana. Nasya is the jewel — direct medication to the sinuses and nasal passages through classical oils.

Therapies & medicines we use
Classical nasal administration of medicated oils — the supreme treatment for sinusitis and allergic rhinitis.
Therapeutic emesis — powerfully clears accumulated Kapha in chronic asthma.
Steam and fomentation to loosen deep-seated congestion.
Therapeutic herbal smoke inhalation — classical bronchial therapy.
Personalised decoctions — Vasa, Kantakari, Pushkarmool and others.
Breath-training to restore full lung function and reduce hyperreactivity.
Lung rejuvenation formulae — Chyavanprasha, Agastya Rasayana and the like.
Expected timeline
Acute infections and simple allergic rhinitis often clear in 2–4 weeks. Chronic asthma and sinusitis respond meaningfully over 2–3 months, with inhaler use dropping visibly. A full 4–6 month programme including Vamana, Nasya and Rasayana delivers the deepest, most lasting results — often transforming the patient's baseline respiratory reactivity.
“Fifteen years of bronchial asthma, inhaler every single day. Three months on Dr. Anil's programme — I've used my rescue inhaler twice. My wife thinks I'm a different person.”
